Dionous Games and developer Duck Made Of Wood announced that Escape from 8-Bit High, the tongue-in-cheek retro point-and-click adventure, is out now on Steam and GOG for Windows, Mac and Linux. A 15% launch discount runs on both stores through October 13, 2026, and a free demo is available on Steam.
At Cloudydale High School, a cursed cassette awakens a sentient, malevolent Pomodore 64 (a Commodore 64-style computer) that takes command of an army of 8-bit villains: aliens, mole men, dinosaurs and zombies. Standing in its way is Blueberry Finn, the alt-rock trio of Hank, Duck and Alex, who must save the school and possibly the world with their wits, their instruments and a lot of rock music.
Players switch freely between all three band members, solve retro-style puzzles and fight their battles in the Music Battle System, an arcade-inspired, rhythm-based combat mechanic with a super-easy mode for anyone who finds rhythm games tricky. Choices matter: the main villain can differ between playthroughs, leading to multiple endings.
