Krystone Games is excited to announce that a brand-new Steam Playtest for Eldritch Escape is now live, giving players a chance to dive into the game’s squad-based, extraction-driven Bullet Heaven gameplay and experience the latest version of its Lovecraftian nightmare.
Earth has been consumed by an ancient eldritch god, leaving a small group of survivors trapped inside an ever-changing void. Players must assemble a squad, battle hordes of nightmarish creatures, gather valuable resources, and decide how far they are willing to push before attempting to extract.
The new playtest expands the roster of available survivors, giving players more opportunities to experiment with different squad compositions, abilities, and powerful Team-Up combinations.
Players will explore a single biome during the playtest, fighting increasingly dangerous enemies while collecting Morphite, Modules, and Meta Resources before trying to make it out alive.
Every expedition is a balancing act between risk and reward: stay longer to gather better resources and strengthen your run, or extract early and secure what you’ve already found.
Playtest Key Features:
- Expanded Playable Character Roster: More survivors are available in the new playtest, each bringing their own abilities, mechanics, and playstyles to the squad. Experiment with different combinations and discover which characters work best together.
- Three-Character Squad Gameplay: Build a squad of three survivors and switch between their abilities as you fight through waves of eldritch creatures. Squad composition plays a major role in how each expedition unfolds.
- Team-Up Upgrade Trees: Pairing specific survivors together unlocks powerful Team-Up upgrades and combo abilities. Different squad compositions open up different build possibilities, rewarding experimentation from run to run.
- Extraction-Based Runs: Collect Morphite, Modules, and valuable Meta Resources as you explore, but remember: rewards only matter if you make it out. Players must decide when to continue pushing deeper and when it is time to extract.
- A Lovecraftian Bullet Heaven: Battle relentless swarms of grotesque creatures inside the remains of an eldritch god, combining the escalating combat of a Bullet Heaven with squad building, exploration, and extraction mechanics.
The Eldritch Escape Steam Playtest is available starting September 15.
