Lorix Games has released a free demo for Midnight Manhunt, a turn-based tactics game of hidden movement and deduction set in a cyberpunk city. The demo is available now on Steam and the full game is due for release in Q1 2027.
In Midnight Manhunt you never see your target. You command four Grid Runners with the mission to hunt a single hidden Ghost across a city of connected nodes, and the only thing the city logs is the type of vehicle he used, which on its own is usually too vague to place him. So instead of searching for the Ghost, players rule out every node he could not have reached and narrow the possibilities until a single location is left, then corner him for the takedown. The studio describes it as a hidden-movement game inspired by Scotland Yard, reworked as a tactics game.
The demo includes three Grid Runner missions and offers more than two hours of play. The first is a tutorial that teaches the core hunt. The next two open up the game’s sandbox and leave players to develop their own strategies for tracking the Ghost, using each Grid Runner’s tools to cut the search down. Deeper tactical layers, further content, and a second campaign that puts players on the side of the Ghost are reserved for the full release.
“The feeling we chased is the satisfying moment when an intuition turns out correct and you realize you have seen through his whole plan”, says Lorix Games. “You are not just following the Ghost. You are slowly working out where he really moved and then you close the net.”
Midnight Manhunt is the debut title from Lorix Games, a two-person independent studio, and is built in the Godot engine.
